Welcome from Barry V. Qualls
Dear Rutgers Students, When you come to Rutgers you enter a community of faculty, staff and fellow students eager to participate in a world of new ideas, surprising discoveries, diverse peoples—in other words, a major research university offering you a myriad of new and exciting opportunities. You need only be energetically curious. In choosing Rutgers, you are choosing to encounter ideas that challenge and people that confront your beliefs and traditions. Take advantage of these challenges and confrontations. They will provoke you to ask questions, to demand more of your friends and professors, to redefine your own interests, ideas, beliefs, goals. The Office of Undergraduate Education is here to help you use your curiosity and your questions to access all of the academic resources Rutgers has to offer you. Please use our website to begin learning about the programs, services, courses and living-learning communities that have been created to enhance your undergraduate education. At Rutgers we want you to explore new ideas and experiences in settings that are small and friendly. We expect you to develop dialogues with faculty and other students by getting to know them well. None of us comes to a university like Rutgers to have our prejudices confirmed and our ignorance untouched. We challenge you to seize the opportunities of your university in all its diverse richness. Sincerely, ![]() Barry V. Qualls Vice President for Undergraduate Education Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey Old Queen's Building 83 Somerset Street New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901-1281 |
