Rutgers is dedicated to serving the needs of nontraditional students on the New Brunswick Campus, including returning adults whose formal education has been interrupted, students needing to pursue higher education on a part-time basis, postbaccalaureate students pursuing a second undergraduate degree or major, and nondegree students. Nontraditional students affiliate with the University College Community where they receive a wealth of support services. Nontraditional students in The School of Arts and Sciences should seek academic advising with the SAS academic dean for nontraditional students, Beth Howard.

Nontraditional students enjoy:

Courses offered from early morning through late evening and even on Saturday
Access to a broad range of majors and minors, including a number which can be completed through study in the evening only
Many options for completing a second undergraduate degree, a second major, or coursework to prepare for entry into professional school programs
A full range of academic support programs and student services available in the evening
Specialized academic advising and cocurricular programming geared to the needs and interests of returning adult or part-time students
